What is the cheapest effective flea treatment?

I have 2 dogs (25lbs & 80lbs) 6 cats, and 7 kittens I am finding homes for. They all have fleas, and I am looking for an effective, inexpensive flea treatment for them.

Frontline doesn’t work on my bigger dog, and my cats are allergic to flea collars.

I have two small dogs about 6 months old. They have flea collars on, but I’m still finding ticks. Do I have to treat the yard and if so what over the counter product can I use? Do I have to treat in the house as well? Help please….

Do my cats need flea collars in the winter?

We had a flea problem in the beginning of the summer, so I went out and bought flea shampoo, foggers, flea collars, the works. Now the fleas are gone, but it is getting very cold out (I’m in New England) and I’m wondering if I need to keep them wearing the flea collars. I also heard that flea collars aren’t really safe for cats, so what anti-flea product is best? Do I need to start a new flea treatment now, or can I wait until the winter is over?

natural flea-killing products?

A few years ago, my cat had a bad reaction to the Advantage flea treatment. Since then, I have never used flea treatment on her nor have I my other cats. I do not want to risk putting any chemicals on my cats. What should I do about fleas? I do not want to use flea collars because I have heard that the chemicals on them can irritate a cat’s neck. Are there any effective, natural products that I can give to my cats that will prevent fleas? I don’t want them to suffer with fleas; however, I’d rather my cats have fleas than risk another bad reaction to Advantage or any other treatment.
