She is about 8 weeks old and I’ve read the flea collars arent good for kittens so young. She is indoors but she already has some fleas from before we got her because she came from a farm where she was outdoors some. I’ve had awful experiences with fleas and I’d like to stop them before they get bad, ASAP. What kind of prevention should I use?

How do I get rid of a serious flea problem?

I have four cats. Two are five month old kittens and I have two adult cats. Only one of them ever goes outside and he and the other adult cat are on Advantage. However, all the cats have fleas terribly (one has scratched its self to the point it has nearly no hair on its tail). The two kittens who do not have Advantage have flea collars. We’ve given all the cats flea baths but you can only do this once a week.

The fleas are EVERYWHERE! We’ve set off three flea bombs in different rooms in the house but in a matter of days the population was the same, if not larger, than before. We also set up two flea traps but they don’t seem to be having an effect other than assuring me we have a flea problem.

Is there anything short of ripping up the carpeting and spending a fourtane that I can do? They are driving me crazy and my cats are miserable.

Any of those over the counter, store bought flea stuff is bad for your cat…!!! My cat almost died of that junk…almost 5 yrs ago…also make sure that when you use flea medication you dont use anything else for 30 days or this will be considered an overdose. Also flea collars are just as bad. Words straight from my vet‘s mouth is those drops and collars that you purchase from the store are POISON!!!

ok i work at a petsmart and i have come to notice that many ppl dont know alot about flea and tick issues which is crucial during this part of the year.

a few things ppl should know is do not put powders and drops on ur animals at the same time or within quite some time of the other. u should only use one product or u will make ur pet extremely sick and could in some cases kill it

powders: powders can be extremely messy and dont have a great success rate.

drops: products such as biospot have been known to give many animals skin conditions as well as causing seizures in cats.

HARTZ IS BAD!!!

flea collars: dont do a whole lot of good. they just get the neck and u end up getting most of the poison urself or someone else who touches thepet therefore not really being effective.

things that do work really well are items such as Frontline, Advantage, Advantix, and Revolution.

and u should only trust products from ur vet bcz most products u can buy in
a petstore wont do u much good and aren’t reliable.

now if many of u disagree with what im saying fine. and im sure that some of the store brands do work for some ppl im just hoping to inform ppl of what is and what isn’t that great to use on pets.

i dont want to see another cat or dog die bcz the owners were never informed about flea and tick problems

oh and revolution also helps prevent heartworms which is another handy thing to take care of.
and actually frontline isn’t the best revolution is.
oh and yes sooner has a point while u can buy frontline from petco DONT DO IT! their supplies are not assured and since they are massed produced to go to all PetCo’s are therefore not very reliable vets are reliable……..except when it comes to Science Diet
