What is a good flea preventive for a cat?

I have a 7 month old kitty and was wondering if there was a better flea preventive than the topical kind; kind of like the comfortis for dogs? I seem to have the hardest time getting the topical in the right spot. She sits still long enough for me to find her shoulder blades and part her fur, but she moves as soon as i go to squeeze the tube and it ends up somewhere else. Is there anything else out there?

A flea comb will only work so well and all the flea shampoos are only safe for kittens 12 weeks and older. I heard that rubbing alcohol kills fleas, and I’ve been flicking the fleas that I find with the comb into a small cup of rubbing alcohol and the fleas die within seconds, but can I use the rubbing alcohol on the kittens fur? Or is there actually a de-fleaing shampoo in existence that is safe for younger kittens?

I have heard it works just as well. Also what brands do you use and how much is it. He has flea allergy dermatitis so we need something to help with that before he loses all of his fur again this summer. He can’t stop chewing himself

How do I keep my cat warm in a cold room?

My basement apartment is cold, often getting down to 65. This is because of the air conditioning unit not working properly. The main floor is just right always, but the basement is too cold and the second floor is too hot.

I will be bringing a cat home in a week. What’s the best way to keep her warm in this extra cold environment?

She is a 2 year-old F4 (fourth generation) Bengal cat. This is important because it means she does not have the fuzzy under layer of fur that most cats do (the Asian Leopard Cat does not have the fuzz layer, and so the Bengals do not).
Oh. She’s not going to be there 24/7. Her foster mother says she’ll follow people around all day, and she’ll have free reign of the entire house (main floor, basement, and 2nd floor), and will likely remain on the main floor where I will be during the day. But she will be here at night every night.

I have two long haired cats that are only 2 years old and I have a cat that is 20 years old with arthritis, cataracts and does not liked to be touched on her body because I am sure she hurts from the arthritis. What is the best flea medicine for her and the two 2 years olds. Should it be different medications and can I have her shaved without it hurting her because she is unable to take care of her long fur anymore.
