My cat has never had fleas(at least that i have seen) and I have always used frontline on my dog… should i start putting flea prevention stuff on my cat? and what works the best for the money?

I can’t remember where I heard this, but I heard with just one dose of flea medication, it will kill of fleas for 3 months, but, so since company wants to make money they make it so you do it monthly.
Is that true?

I have 5 cats and a dog and they need it bad..I am not sure what happened this week but the fleas went bonkers!
I just don’t want to waste money I don’t have trying products that don’t work..any tried and true suggestions?

A cat that belongs to someone I know is exhibiting all the signs of a urinary tract infection (blood in urine, straining to go, going outside the box, etc.) and obviously needs to be seen by a vet. However, the cat’s owner doesn’t have the time or the money to take the cat to the vet immediately. They are planning on doing it "some time" next week.

1. How long can a cat go without treatment?
2. Should I just take the cat to the vet myself and pay for treatment?
It is a male cat, 4 years old, and he’s been experiencing the symptoms for almost 3 days.

Yesterday I asked about capstar here on Answers and I mentioned how my mom was being tight with money(my money). Well I decided just to get Frontline Plus instead but today I was busy so I asked her to pick a box up for me from petco. She returned sooner than expected and I quickly learned why.

SHE BOUGHT ALL HARTZ PRODUCTS FROM THE GROCERY STORE! Dewormer, flea&tick medicine, etc.

I tell her time and time again that that garbage can kill dogs and cats but she doesn’t listen! I told her that I am not putting that crap on my dogs and that she should just go get her money back. She flipped. She started yelling that I am too obsessed with brands and that I also shouldn’t be spending on food every month(Blue Buffalo).

My mom probably won’t read what you answer but I’ll try to get into her thick skull.
Please help me!

We used Hartz products on them before when they were younger and I was ignorant to the facts. Nothing happened to them so she thinks they are fine, but it CAN kill them and I’d rather not take that chance!
